The Next Phase Begins

Planning permission for the Rosentalturm has been granted, marking an important milestone for the project. Preparations for construction are now underway as the development at Messeplatz enters its next phase.

With the positive decision by the Canton of Basel-Stadt, the Rosentalturm has reached an important milestone. Planning permission has been granted for the project designed by Herzog & de Meuron, allowing the next steps and construction schedule to be finalised.

Initial preparatory work will begin after the Basel Autumn Fair. The existing car park will then be dismantled to make way for the new development. The construction phase is expected to take around four years, with completion planned for the end of 2030.

Parking during construction

For events at the Messe und Congress Center Basel, the closure of the existing car park will bring an important change. During the construction period, alternative parking will be available near Badischer Bahnhof for event clients, exhibitors and other visitors, ensuring continued access to the exhibition grounds.

Once the Rosentalturm is completed, MCH Group will take over parking spaces in the new development at the end of 2030 and operate them as the venue’s car park. This will once again provide events with a long-term parking solution directly at Messeplatz.

MCH Group is not an investor in the Rosentalturm development. As the operator of the Messe und Congress Center Basel, however, we are closely involved wherever the construction phase affects events, logistics or the use of the exhibition grounds. Organisers will be informed well in advance about relevant changes and the solutions available as part of their event planning.

At the same time, the construction site will create new temporary spaces at Messeplatz. These are also intended to provide additional advertising and branding opportunities during the construction period. Further information on available formats and booking options will follow.
